Our Hiring Process

Stage 1

Applied

Applications are received through a dedicated applicant tracking system (PinPoint). This creates consistency for applicants and allows our hiring teams to share the responsibility of reviewing and interviewing candidates in a consistent and efficient manner.

We strive to be respectful of time and create a streamlined hiring process that enables all candidates to:
  • understand position and hiring requirements
  • communicate with the hiring team
  • be assessed holistically incorporating each individuals unique experiences, education, and interests
  • receive timely updates on the status of their applications
Stage 2

Review

Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis to evaluate each candidate's demonstrated experience, professional skills, and self described interest against the qualifications outlined in the job description.

Applications are anonymized upon receipt enabling the screening process to focus exclusively on each applicant's question answers and the quality and quantity of relevant experience that is specified in the application materials. Candidates with the required qualifications and highest rankings will be invited to participate in an initial phone interview with the hiring manager.

Candidates that do not meet the basic requirements or are not ranked high enough to advance will be notified that their application will not progress.
Stage 3

Initial Interview

The initial interview stage will consist of a 30-minute phone screen with the hiring manager.

5-6 questions will be asked to expand upon, and clarify, each candidate's relevant professional experience, as well as their interest in CNPS and the position itself.

Candidates with the highest rankings according to a hiring rubric will be invited to advance to participate in the panel interview stage.

Candidates who do not rank high enough (comparatively) to interview, will be notified that their candidacy is not advancing.
Stage 4

Panel Interview

The panel interview stage is a 60 to 90-minute interview with the hiring team. Panel interviews will be conducted by video (Microsoft Teams).

Candidates will receive a summary of pre-determined question topics and the number of questions they will be asked by email 24 hours before their scheduled interview. Approximately 8-10 questions can be expected.

The hiring panel will assign scores to each answer based on how relevant and fully the question or scenario is addressed utilizing a hiring rubric. Certain questions will be weighted based on importance.

At the conclusion of the panel interview candidates will have opportunity to ask questions.

The candidates with the highest rankings will advance to the reference checks stage.

Candidates that are not selected to advance will be notified that their candidacy has concluded.
Stage 5

References

CNPS performs reference checks for the top candidates with the highest rankings prior to making any job offers.

Candidates should provide at least three professional references who are willing and able to answer questions, share their direct observations, and recount their first hand experiences working with the applicant in a professional capacity. References that have supervised or managed the applicants are preferred. For applicants with limited work experience references may be provided from educational and volunteer experiences.

Candidates not selected to receive an offer following reference checks will be notified that their candidacy has concluded.
Stage 6

Offer

The hiring manager will call to extend verbal offer of employment and provide details relating to compensation and benefits, and a proposed start date.

After a candidate verbally accepts they will receive a written job offer, a copy of the job description and a copy of the CNPS Employee Handbook by email. The offer will have an expiration date which requires the candidate to execute their electronic signature on the hiring site to accept (or decline) the offer.
Stage 7

Hired

This is the congratulatory stage! After executing the employment agreement sent in the offer stage, a candidate is hired and the onboarding process will be initiated.
